Smart Regions 2.0 Conference

Maximising Europe's innovation potential

The second edition of the high-level Smart Regions event will provide the opportunity to national and regional authorities to share experience of how smart specialisation has been implemented in their countries and regions.

The event will provide the opportunity to share experience between projects supported by the European Structural Investment Funds and other EU programmes and policies in the areas of research, industrial policy, education and skills. There will be an opportunity to debate the future of innovation in the context of European regional development with senior representatives from the European institutions and national and regional governments.

ECSEL Symposium




This event is organised under the auspices of the Maltese Presidency of the Council of the European Union.


The first Symposium organised by the ECSEL JU will bring together European and global stakeholders in Electronic Components & Systems, including Industry, Research and Financial Communities, European, National and Regional decision-makers and international partners.


ECSEL projects will present their progress and results to date and disseminate their scientific and technological achievements. The two-day event includes an exhibition of projects, discussion on the projects’ results and strategic exchange featuring high-profile key note speakers and panel discussions. Smart System Integration master-class: "smart-MEMPHIS" Project

A two-and-a-half-day summer school given by smart-MEMPHIS project consortium and Malta University. Participation is free of charge but registration is obligatory. Participants are invited to submit an abstract for an electronic poster.

Micro-fabrication for medical devices

Micro-fabricated devices increasingly find their way to the front-ends of medical equipment, where they form the interface between the human body and the system. ECSEL JU projects InforMed and INCITE, together with other partners, demonstrate how pan-European cooperation leads to cutting-edge innovations.
